Challenge - To secure transactions on the web and wireless using biometric technology

Facial Recognition uses images to detect the identity of a person. The client can be a browser or a wireless device. The fundamental aspect was to develop a framework for integrating FR authentication within eCommerce (B2B & B2C) and mCommerce (wireless). In addition, integration and interoperation with existing security mechanisms on the Internet and ease of adoption for all stake holders was also essential.
Solution - FR Technology, SSL v 3

Techlogix developed the Devices - Support for webcams and cameras for mobile/handheld, Digital Certificates - Software for integration of biometric digital certificate request and storage in Web browsers and CA Certificate Issue - Software for issuing digital certificates from a CA server based on verification in a facebase. Viisage developed the FR Technology - to improve technology to work on broad range of cameras.

Benefits - Eliminate Web Fraud

FacialNet is a pioneering step towards the elimination of Web fraud through credit cards by using biometric technology. The existing security functions concentrate on 'What you have' (credit cards etc), whereas FacialNet provides a solution based on 'Who you are' (facial recognition).
