Fortune 50: Business Intelligence
|
|
Finance Corp. is a $25 billion revenue
subsidiary of a Fortune 50 company. It provides
commercial finance through a variety of business
units. |
|
|
Challenge |
|
Finance Corp.
needed to integrate its Business Intelligence /
Data Warehousing initiatives that were currently
developed independently in seven different
business units. Given the volume of data,
Finance Corp. decided to invest in the NCR
Teradata platform. However, the purchase of
Teradata hardware was simply the first (and
easiest!) step in implementing an Enterprise
Data Warehouse. |
|
|
Solution |
A team of 14 Techlogix consultants
worked with a team of six Teradata
Professional Services consultants to
implement the full lifecycle of Data
Warehouse implementation. This was
initiated with a five month data
modeling effort by a 4 person Architect
team (with 3 of the consultants from
Techlogix). This was followed by an a
series of projects which implemented ETL
for data extraction from source systems
to the newly modeled Enterprise Data
Warehouse followed by the creation of
reports in Business Objects. |

|
|
Benefits |
|
Data from four
legacy systems maintained across three different
reporting environments was consolidated into a
single Teradata instance supported by 2 Business
Objects Universes. The first two completed
projects also allowed Finance Corp. to showcase
its approach of integrating all enterprise data
into the warehouse and establish a data model
foundation to be used across the business. |
|
|
Technology |
|
The Enterprise Data Warehouse was developed
using Teradata, Informatica for ETL and Business
Objects for reporting and front-end analysis. |
