Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan is the primary regulator of higher education in Pakistan. HEC is responsible for higher education policy, quality assurance, degree recognition, development of new institutions and uplift of existing institutions in Pakistan. It also facilitates the development of higher educational system in the country and is responsible for both the budgetary and development expenditures at all 70+ public sector universities in Pakistan.
In 2007, HEC decided to launch a pilot program to automate campus operations at eight selected universities with a combined student enrollment of approximately 60,000 full time students. After a rigorous RFP process, HEC selected Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions as its core Student Information System and Techlogix as the implementing partner at all eight universities. All eight universities were successfully completed by 2010.
In 2012, HEC launched a retrospective study in collaboration with Oracle to evaluate the effectiveness of the implemented solution. Over a two month period, Oracle visited each of the eight universities and studied both the usage of the system and the business improvements that had resulted.
This case study is a distillation of these results and provides a clear testimonial for the business value of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions in a public sector university context, the care and diligence with which Techlogix implemented the solution and the widespread adoption of the solution by the universities.
